Ocasio-Cortez ranted for over 90 minutes to her 8.5 million Instagram followers with instructions on “dismantling fascism” late Monday. It appears to be a resurgence of the “resistance” movement that gained traction during Trump’s first term, with phrases such as “not my president” going viral online.

“What Donald Trump has done is that he has completely given up his power and handed a lot of it over to Elon Musk,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Elon Musk has appointed some teenagers and some people in their early 20s into essentially trying to raid government systems.”

The representative has long quarreled with Musk online on various topics. While Musk has previously accused Ocasio-Cortez of being ignorant, this time, she questioned his intelligence.

“This dude is probably one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met or seen or witnessed,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “They don’t do their homework, clearly. Like, they’re putting 19-year-olds in at the Treasury. This dude is not smart. … I mean, this guy is one of the most morally vacant, but also just least knowledgeable about these systems that we really know of.”

Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest member of Congress at 29 when she first took office in 2019. She lost that distinction to former Rep. Madison Cawthorn, 25, in 2021.

While signing further executive orders on Monday, Trump promised that “Elon can’t do and won’t do anything without our approval.” Trump named Musk the volunteer head of the Department of Government Efficiency to create “a lean team of small-government crusaders” to work closely with the White House Office of Management and Budget.
