Apple denies French claims of iPhones emitting radiation.
Apple Defends Itself Against Radiation Accusations
Apple has come under fire from a French regulator who claims that the company’s mobile phone products emit excessive amounts of radiation. However, Apple has swiftly defended itself against these allegations.
The French regulator, Agence Nationale des Frequences, recently ordered Apple to halt the sale of iPhone 12 models due to their high specific absorption rate. This rate measures the amount of radio frequency energy absorbed by the body from a device. Apple, on the other hand, argues that the iPhone 12 has undergone numerous international tests and is completely safe. The company plans to challenge the regulator’s findings.
Apple’s Response
“Apple is expected to respond within two weeks,” stated Jean-Noel Barrot, France’s junior minister for the digital economy. “If they fail to do so, I am prepared to order a recall of all iPhones 12 in circulation. The rule applies to everyone, including digital giants like Apple.”
In an effort to ensure compliance, French authorities will send agents to Apple stores to verify that the iPhone 12 models are no longer being sold. Failure to remove the devices from the market could result in France demanding a recall from those who already own them.
This decision by France could have wider implications for Europe as a whole. Germany’s radiation watchdog is closely monitoring the situation and may follow suit based on the outcome.
The Safety of iPhone 12
It is important to note that the specific absorption rate of the iPhone 12 is well below the level that poses any harm. The International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection has set the standard for mobile devices to be ten times lower than the threshold that could potentially harm users in their everyday lives.
Rest assured, Apple is committed to addressing these concerns and ensuring the safety of its customers.
