“Aquaman” Star Jason Momoa Further Indicates He Is Sticking Around DCU, Says He Will Continue To Play Aquaman as Well as “A Couple Different Roles”
Jason Momoa isn’t going anywhere as Aquaman. He even promised more at the Sundance Film Festival as he and James Gunn, the new DC Studios CEO, have a great relationship. According to the actor, they are working on several things and, what’s more, Momoa is looking forward to the opportunity to play more characters.
“I love [James] Gunn and so there’s gonna be some really cool things, what they’re doing with DC, and I definitely will be in more than just one,” Momoa said via Deadline. “There’s room for me to play a couple different [roles]… I’ve seen other actors do it. Yeah. I want a shot.”
He repeated to Variety the following: “I’ll always be Aquaman. Ain’t anyone coming in there and taking shit. There might be some other characters, too. I can play other things, too. I can be funny and savage and charming.” These statements could be positive news for Lobo speculation

Toward the end of last year, Momoa received a phone call with a most propitious update on the other end that led him to post a video to social media sharing his excitement with a big “F*** YES!”
What news he got is arcane but most concluded it had something to do with a Lobo tease made by Gunn earlier.
When asked about whether this phone call and Gunn posting an image of Lobo to social media were connected, Momoa answered, “Well, everyone knows that I’m a comic book fan, and so the comic that I collect the most, and I have every comic there is. You can do your research and find out what it is.”

The Main Man is one of the actor’s favorite characters and who he initially hoped to play when Zack Snyder had him read for Batman. Interestingly, his burnout interpretation of Bruce Wayne landed him Aquaman which Snyder was reimagining to suit his take on DC. Bearing a resemblance and undertones of Lobo, his Arthur Curry resonated with some audiences.
The upcoming sequel could turn the tide, and not for the better, but for right now Warner Bros. is still satisfied with the results, and thus fine with keeping Momoa around as King of Atlantis. “I’ll always be Aquaman, and there’s a lot of evolution for that. So I’m not going anywhere and it’s very exciting,” he said.
Perhaps because of WB’s investment in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, much like Ezra Miller and The Flash, Momoa survived the culling that claimed Henry Cavill and Batgirl, finding favor with CEO David Zaslav. “We have a special relationship…I wish I could say more,” Momoa added. “It was really wonderful to be over there, and Warner Bros is a home.”
