Are China’s Intentions Toward Taiwan Changing? A US Institute of Peace Discussion
People’s Republic of China (PRC), which considers Taiwan part of China’s territory, has been developing military capabilities to force Taiwan to accept unification. Over the last few years, PRC has intensified its military efforts. Is PRC preparing for war against Taiwan?
A panel discussion will take place at 10:00 am. ET on March 10, 2010, by the United State Institute of Peace. Alexander Chiehcheng Huang is a Professor of Institute of Strategic Studies Tamkang University; Phil Saunders (Director of Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs National Defense University); Andrew Scobell (Distinguished Fellow), U.S. Institute of Peace; Joel Wuthnow (Senior Research Fellow, Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs National Defense University) will discuss these issues.
Jennifer Staats, Director of East and Southeast Asia Programs for the U.S. Institute of Peace (USI), will moderate the discussion.
