Several armed squatters who had been staying in the basement of a Bronx apartment were busted by New York City officials last week.
At least seven illegal immigrants who shared the space with a small child were discovered in the Hull Avenue residence, where New York City Police Department officers also found a drug stash, according to a Monday report that cited Chief of Patrol John Chell.
Officers responded to the home around 10 p.m. and witnessed a man aiming a firearm at another person in the driveway, Chell said.
The person soon fled into the basement, and officers took down the gun-wielding man, identified as 24-year-old Venezuelan national Hector Desousa-Villalta, the report noted.
During the chaos, 22-year-old Venezuelan national Javier Alborno attempted to flee with a firearm, but officers soon had him in cuffs.
A further investigation of the residence led to the discovery of more firearms, a “ghost gun,” extended magazines, ammunition, various drugs, and a child, according to the report.

In total, seven people were taken into custody and charged with weapons possession and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Desousa-Villalta, Alborno, and one other suspect have criminal histories and were held on bail, but the others were released, the report noted.
