Asa Hutchinson gains 4,000 new donors post-GOP debate.
Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson Makes Waves After Republican Primary Debate
Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has been making headlines following his appearance in the first Republican primary debate. Despite barely qualifying for the debate and being one of the last candidates to answer questions, Hutchinson managed to capture the attention of new donors and gain a small boost in the polls.
Hutchinson shared his takeaways from the debate during an interview on Fox News’s Cavuto Live. He revealed that his debate performance resulted in nearly 4,000 new donors for his campaign. With this newfound support, Hutchinson is optimistic about his future prospects.
Standing Firm on Former President Donald Trump
During the debate, Hutchinson stood out as one of only two candidates who did not raise their hand when asked if they would support former President Donald Trump if he were convicted in his criminal cases. While opponent Chris Christie seemed to raise his hand, he later clarified that he was shaking his finger.
Hutchinson confidently stated, “I’m the only one that was clear on that, actually. And without any hesitation. So you know, you’ve got to do what Abraham Lincoln talked about, and that is find solid ground and stand firm. I’m in the right place. I stand firm.”
Despite his strong stance, Hutchinson’s campaign did not comment on the buzz surrounding his red eye during the debate.
Speaking Time Disparity
Interestingly, Hutchinson had the least speaking time of all the candidates, with only 7 minutes and 33 seconds. In contrast, Mike Pence had the most speaking time, totaling 12 minutes and 37 seconds.
Overall, Hutchinson’s performance in the debate has generated significant attention and support. With his newfound donors and a slight bump in the polls, he is poised to make a lasting impact on the Republican primary race.
