Democrat-run Chicago has dealt with the aftermath of another deadly weekend. Chicago Police Department released statistics on Sunday, which showed the stark increase in violent crime in the city just over the last two years.
This report included attacks over the weekend in which at least 50 people were shot and at least five people were killed. Families of lost loved ones have been seeking answers by recently gathering outside a courthouse to voice frustration with judges, who they said have repeatedly put dangerous criminals back on the streets.
“We must stop pointing fingers. Come with solutions to the problems,” expressed Milagros Burgos, mother of a gun violence victim. “Make our city safe. We need better. Children need better. This society needs better.”

Despite the city having some of the strictest gun laws in the country, CPD reported a significant rise in the number of shootings and homicides in comparison to 2019. Critics have pointed to defund the police movements as a potential reason behind the spike in crime.
