At least three civilians killed and 20 hospitalized in Ukraine from Russian drone strike: Kyiv police

At least three innocent people were killed and 20 others hospitalized after a drone strike carried out by Russian forces hit a student dormitory building in the region around Ukrainian capital city Kyiv, as per Ukrainian police reports on Wednesday morning.

The chief of police for the Kyiv region confirmed that the drone attack resulted in almost complete destruction of one part of the building, with a fire starting in the area too. Police and emergency services evacuated over 200 people and another five people’s whereabouts are unknown as of now.

The attack happened at around 3 am local time, and it was followed by a second series of explosions.

According to Andriy Nebytov, “We see that the enemy once again attacked the civilian infrastructure, innocent people were killed, including the ambulance driver who came to rescue citizens. This is another shameful war crime of the occupier.”

Reacting to the incident, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the Russian “terror” against his country, highlighting that over 20 Iranian drones, as well as missiles and shelling, struck Ukraine during the latest attack.

As per the UN Human Rights Office, at least 8,000 “non-combatants” in Ukraine have died and nearly 13,300 were injured as of last month, a year after Russia’s invasion, and the number is believed to be higher than the confirmed figures.

The Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, recently visited Kyiv, expressing his anger over the killing of Ukrainian civilians by Russian forces.
