Audio shows Mastriano praying for leaders to ‘rise up with boldness’ ahead of Jan. 6
Days before rioters breached the Capitol and stormed the halls of Congress on Jan. 6, GOP Pennsylvania gubernatorial contender Doug Mastriano prayed for leaders to “rise up with boldness,” according to audio.
Mastriano, who has been given the cold shoulder by some heavyweight Republicans for promulgating 2020 election fraud assertions, prayed for political leaders to show boldness during a “Global Prayer for Election Integrity” meeting ahead of the 2020 election certification process, Rolling Stone reported.

“I pray for the leaders also in the federal government, God, on the sixth of January, that they will rise up with boldness,” he said in the audio. “Bless these letters that President Trump asked me this morning to send to Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy outlining the fraud in Pennsylvania.”
Mastriano continued his statement by saying that he hoped Trump’s letters would “embolden” McConnell and McCarthy “to stand firm and disregard what has happened in Pennsylvania until we have an investigation.”
The event was organized by Jim Garlow, a figure in the New Apostolic Restoration movement, per the outlet. NAR pushes the theory that the end of times is nearing and that we are living in an era of new prophets, Rolling Stone reported. RightWingWatch previously reported on Mastriano’s remarks, but now the audio has surfaced. He was a state senator at the time.
Almost two dozen “Global Prayer for Election Integrity” meetings, including ones organized by Garlow, reportedly took place between the 2020 election and Jan. 6. During his prayer, Mastriano also prayed that his allies would “seize the power” and counter “weak and feckless” Pennsylvania officials.
“We think about our elected officials in Pennsylvania who’ve been weak and feckless and we’ve handed over our power to a governor who disregards the freedoms of this republic. I pray that we’ll take responsibility, we’ll seize the power that we had given to us by the Constitution and as well by you providentially,” he continued.

Mastriano clinched the GOP nod for Pennsylvania governor in May and will face off against Attorney General Josh Shapiro for the governorship of the state in the fall. He is trailing Shapiro, who indicated Mastriano was his preferred GOP rival, by 6 points, according to the latest Real Clear Politics polling aggregate.
The Washington Examiner reached out to a Mastriano representative for comment.
