Backlash grows against Harry’s Razors for controversial promo video.
Backlash against Harry’s Razors
The controversy surrounding Harry’s Razors continues to grow as critics express their disapproval of the brand’s previous support for the transgender activist group, the Trevor Project. This organization advocates for transgender treatments for minors, a stance that has sparked outrage among conservative commentators and social media users.
The backlash intensified after a video sponsored by Harry’s Razors went viral on Instagram. The video featured a woman who identifies as a man shaving her face and celebrating her first Pride with facial hair. This promotional campaign promised to donate “100% of profits” from the sale of face and body shave kits to the Trevor Project.
Conservative media figures and social media users quickly criticized the video, expressing their concerns about the promotion of gender-affirming care for minors. Daily Caller Editor in Chief Geoffrey Ingersoll tweeted, “Promising to fund the further corruption of children is a helluva marketing strategy.” Texas radio host Mark Davis also chimed in, urging people to boycott Harry’s Razors due to their support for what he called a “mental illness.”
The controversy didn’t stop there. Another video circulated by End Wokeness, a social media account, showed executive leadership at Harry’s Razors referring to mothers as “birthing parents” and fathers as “non-birthing parents.” This further fueled the criticism against the company.
Support for alternative razor company
In response to the backlash, some conservative commentators and social commentators encouraged people to support alternative razor companies. Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro pointed to Jeremy’s Razors, a company created by Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing, as a better option. Shapiro emphasized the importance of not supporting companies that “glorify mutilation and sterilization.”
Boreing himself responded to Harry’s Razors, expressing his gratitude for the controversy, stating, “It’s like they want to make me rich… (That’s the most charitable read).” This exchange further highlighted the divide between those who support Harry’s Razors and those who oppose their promotion of transgender treatments and gender ideology.
