Bad weather scuttles Biden’s record-setting national monument announcement
President Joe Biden postponed his plans to establish two new national monuments in California on Tuesday.
Biden traveled to California on Monday night after visiting with community members and survivors of the New Year’s terrorist attack in New Orleans.
HERE’S WHICH BIDEN EXECUTIVE ORDERS WILL BE THE FIRST TO GO UNDER TRUMP
The president was scheduled to establish the Sattitla Highlands and Chuckwalla national monuments Tuesday evening, which would have set a new record for land and waters conserved by a president, but those plans were scrapped due to winds and wildfires in Southern California.
“Today’s event will be rescheduled for next week at the White House so that key stakeholders can attend,” White House officials said in a statement.
The White House said Biden has conserved more than 674 million acres of land and water during his four years in office.
On Monday, the president also sought to block future offshore oil drilling, a ban that President-elect Donald Trump promised to rescind after entering office.
“Biden is doing everything possible to make the TRANSITION as difficult as as possible, from Lawfare such as has never been seen before, to costly and ridiculous Executive Orders on the Green New Scam and other money wasting Hoaxes,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Fear not, these ‘Orders’ will all be terminated shortly, and we will become a Nation of Common Sense and Strength. MAGA!!!”
