Bartender Charged With Murder After Fatally Beating Female Restaurant Worker With Fire Extinguisher

Disturbing new details have emerged ‌about​ the brutal murder of a ‌27-year-old woman in‍ Laguna Beach, ​California. ⁤The victim, Tatum Goodwin, was violently beaten⁤ to death with ⁤a fire extinguisher ⁢by a​ bartender.

The suspect, Dino Rojas-Moreno, 26, ‌was arrested on Wednesday for the ​murder of Tatum Goodwin. Her body ⁢was found in a Laguna ⁤Beach alley on November 12th, just a few blocks away from her workplace.

“This⁢ arrest was the result⁢ of outstanding police ⁣work ⁣by our Investigations team that worked tirelessly with ‍our law enforcement partners to bring justice to Tatum Goodwin and her‍ family,” said ⁢Laguna Beach ‌Police Chief‌ Jeff Calvert.

Rojas-Moreno is currently being‌ held on a $1,000,000 bail, according to a ⁤ Laguna ⁢Beach Police Department⁢ news release.

The ⁤Laguna Beach Police Department announced that a construction worker had discovered Goodwin’s lifeless body near the ‍200 block of ‌Ocean Avenue in ⁢Laguna Beach on the​ morning of November 12th.

“Her body ⁣was under a chain link fence​ on a construction site and a sandbag had been placed ⁢on her⁤ head,” prosecutors revealed in the​ court filing.

Rojas-Moreno, who worked as a bartender at Royal Hawaiian Fire Grill, has been linked to Goodwin’s murder. ‌They ⁢both worked‌ in the same area, ⁢with Goodwin being an‍ assistant manager at Carmelita’s restaurant in⁣ Laguna Beach.

According to court filings, Rojas-Moreno allegedly used a⁢ fire ⁢extinguisher as ‍a ‍weapon during the murder, which occurred during the commission of‍ a kidnapping. The prosecutors stated that he forcefully dragged Goodwin to a secluded​ area ⁣behind a movie theater that was under‍ construction.

It is still unclear whether ​Rojas-Moreno and Goodwin knew each other personally, ‌despite working in⁢ close proximity.

Orange County DA Todd Spitzer ⁣expressed ⁤his condolences to ‍the victim’s family and ‌emphasized the commitment to ensuring justice is served.

“The loss of an innocent life is a travesty for the entire community. It is heartbreaking​ that a young woman ‍with her entire future ahead of her had her life ended in such a brutal‌ way and then discarded like her life never mattered,” Spitzer said. “She mattered, and the Orange County District ⁣Attorney’s Office ‍is committed to ensuring justice is served.”

A vigil was held in honor of Goodwin, where family, friends,⁣ and acquaintances ​gathered to ​remember her. The suspect’s arrest coincided with the event.

Rojas-Moreno is scheduled to be⁤ arraigned on Monday.

While some news sources claim that he is being held without bail, the Laguna Beach Police Department maintains that his bail is currently set at ‍$1,000,000.

During the‌ vigil, Goodwin’s loved ones spoke fondly of​ her kind and ⁣loving nature.

“She was just a happy-go-lucky person ⁣that would give⁢ you the shirt off‍ her back. That’s who Tatum was,” said her ‍mother Stacy Goodwin-Pitino.

A GoFundMe campaign has ⁣been set up to raise funds for Goodwin’s ​memorial services. Marcos ⁢Salim Heredi, the owner ⁢of⁤ Carmelita’s⁣ Restaurants where Goodwin worked, expressed ‍his desire to honor her memory and ensure she is never forgotten.

“We are still in ‍disbelief and we don’t want⁣ her ‌to⁣ go unforgotten,” Heredi wrote. “We are attempting to raise capital⁤ for her memorial services and also ‌help​ with creating⁢ a⁣ memorial in the‍ city, so everyone in town never forgets ⁤about our sweet friend Tatum.”
