Beach Boys Longtime Member, Dubbed the ‘Vice Principal’ of the Band, Dies at 67
Jeffrey Foskett, a talented musician and cherished member of The Beach Boys, has passed away at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with thyroid cancer.
The news of Foskett’s passing was shared on Facebook by Brian Wilson, one of the band’s founding members.
Foskett left this world on Monday, leaving behind a legacy of incredible music.
“I’m devastated by the loss of my dear friend Jeff Foskett,” wrote Wilson, the mastermind behind the band’s iconic album “Pet Sounds.”
Wilson continued:
“Jeff was always there for me during our tours, and we couldn’t have done it without him. He was one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever known. A true musical leader, an exceptional guitarist, and his voice was like that of an angel.
“I first met Jeff in 1976 when he knocked on my door in Bel Air, and we became friends instantly. I don’t have the words to express my grief. Sending love and mercy to Jeff’s loved ones, we will forever remember him.”
Carnie Wilson, Foskett’s daughter and a renowned singer herself, responded to Wilson’s post.
“Daddy, I know how much this hurts. We will miss him dearly. I love you,” she wrote in the comments section.
Mike Love, the vocalist who continues to tour with the band, paid tribute to Foskett on the social media platform X.
In a heartfelt post, Love expressed:
“We are all part of a great big family, The Beach Boys. We have all played our roles over the decades. Sadly, one who played an enormous part for so long has moved on to another place.
“Jeff was and will always be incredibly special and loved by many. God has called back one of his greatest. Jeff’s sense of humor, talent, charm, and genuine heart of gold were evident to anyone who crossed his path. He was known as ‘The Voice’ for a reason, his harmonies were unmatched. Tonight, listen to the stillness, as I’m certain there’s a heavenly celebration with ‘The Voice’ taking the lead.”

Love also expressed that he and his wife will deeply miss Foskett while being grateful for his love, friendship, and the impact he had on their lives.
He concluded, “Grief comes in waves, reminding us of the precious love we share. We will ride these waves, knowing that each one brings us closer to a beautiful memory of the past.”
Foskett was affectionately referred to as the “vice principal of The Beach Boys” by the band’s founding members, who famously had their differences after the band disbanded and Wilson pursued his own path, CNBC reported.
The late musician toured with both Love’s and Wilson’s versions of the band, starting in the mid-1970s.
Although Foskett wasn’t present for the band’s early hits, he contributed to their 1988 hit, “Kokomo,” which Love continues to perform during tours.
