Ben Shapiro debunks absurd claim that photo of slain Israeli baby was AI-generated.
Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro Addresses Claim that Hamas Burned Israeli Babies
In a powerful response, Ben Shapiro, former editor of the Daily Wire, confronted a claim circulating on social media that aimed to discredit the disturbing photos depicting Hamas burning Israeli babies.
Shapiro boldly shared the horrifying image of a burned Israeli baby on his show and on X, exposing the inhumane lengths to which Hamas terrorists went in their attack against the Jewish people. However, anti-Israel writer Max Blumenthal and Vladimir Putin-apologist YouTuber Jackson Hinkle attacked Shapiro, alleging that the image was AI-generated.
Shapiro vehemently criticized these “gullible dupes” for believing and spreading the false notion that the image was fake, accusing them of involving themselves in propagandistic efforts to deceive others. He clarified that his post of the disturbing image was “community-noted,” meaning authorized contributors added “missing context” to the post. In this case, the community note falsely claimed that the photo was AI-generated.
“The photo was obviously not AI-generated. It clearly was not AI-generated,” Shapiro emphasized.
Indeed, X removed the community note from Shapiro’s post, and posts claiming the image was AI-generated received community notes confirming its authenticity as “a real photo.”
The image of the scorched baby was initially released by the Israeli government and verified by local reports and eyewitness accounts of first responders. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also shared the image, along with a photo of another dead baby’s bloodied body, with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“Here are some of the photos Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu showed to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken,” Netanyahu’s office stated in a post on X. “Warning: These are horrifying photos of babies murdered and burned by the Hamas monsters.”
“Hamas is inhuman,” his office added. “Hamas is ISIS.”

Shapiro argued that those spreading the claim that the photo of the dead baby was AI-generated are attempting to “both sides” the war in Israel, taking the easiest position. He emphasized that in this particular case, it is evident that both sides are not equally responsible for the atrocities committed.
Furthermore, Shapiro highlighted how the traction gained by the narrative of AI-generated photos underscores the significance of the “propaganda war” when dealing with radical Islamic terrorists like Hamas.
“Hamas is currently fighting the propaganda wars, and unfortunately, there are many gullible individuals who want to believe [the propaganda],” Shapiro stated. He added that while some may have a lack of understanding, there are also those who simply harbor hatred towards Jews and are indifferent to their slaughter.
What evidence supports the claim that Hamas terrorists have burned Israeli babies?
Nity note and apologized for the error, acknowledging that the photo was authentic and not AI-generated. Shapiro commended X for swiftly addressing the mistake and taking responsibility for it. However, he criticized Blumenthal and Hinkle for their rush to judgment and their eagerness to dismiss the horrifying reality of Hamas’ actions.
The claim that Hamas burned Israeli babies is not a baseless accusation. There is ample evidence to support the fact that Hamas terrorists have carried out heinous acts such as burning Israeli babies. Numerous reports and testimonies from survivors have documented these atrocities. To deny or downplay the reality of these crimes is not only ignorant but also perpetuates a cycle of violence and injustice.
Shapiro highlighted the dangerous trend of misinformation and fake news that has plagued social media platforms in recent years. He stressed the importance of verifying information before spreading it, as irresponsible sharing can have serious consequences. In this case, the false claim that the image was AI-generated directly undermined the credibility of the evidence and allowed people to dismiss the brutal acts committed by Hamas.
As an influential figure in the media, Shapiro urged his audience to be discerning consumers of news and to critically analyze the information they come across. He emphasized the need for responsible journalism that presents facts accurately and truthfully, without an agenda or bias.
Shapiro concluded his response by reaffirming his commitment to exposing the truth and holding those who spread misinformation accountable. He reiterated that the image of the burned Israeli baby serves as a stark reminder of the horrors perpetrated by Hamas, and it is crucial to confront and condemn such acts of violence.
In a time when misinformation and propaganda are rampant, it is refreshing to see voices like Ben Shapiro’s confronting falsehoods and advocating for the truth. We must all strive to be responsible consumers and sharers of information, ensuring that the narratives we spread are grounded in facts and promote understanding rather than deception.
