Ben Shapiro Responds to ‘The View’ Guest’s Challenge: ‘Ready for This Intellectual Challenge
Former Rep. Bakari Sellers criticized Ben Shapiro and Clay Travis on “The View” for lacking the intellect for honest discussions. He called out Tucker Carlson and accused him of monetizing racism. Shapiro responded, willing to engage in an intellectual dialogue. Sellers highlighted the issue of spreading fear and hate in media. Whoopi Goldberg reacted as Sellers discussed the impact of individuals like Travis and Shapiro.
Former Rep. Bakari Sellers (D-SC) made an appearance on Wednesday’s broadcast of “The View,” where he claimed that Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro and OutKick founder Clay Travis lacked the “intellect” to have honest discussions — and now Shapiro would like a word.
Joy Behar began the conversation, noting that ousted Fox News Tucker Carlson had accused Sellers of using his platform as a CNN political analyst to “monetize racism.” Sellers objected, claiming that Carlson was the one monetizing racism when he talked about the Great Replacement Theory.
“It’s rooted in white supremacy, and it’s fear. It’s grievance,” Sellers said, claiming that all it did was foment hate.
He went on to call out both Travis and Shapiro by name as host Whoopi Goldberg appeared to shake her head and laugh. “And the problem is that they have ads that play before and ads that play after, and you have these individuals — the Clay Travises of the world, the Ben Shapiros of the world, who don’t necessarily have the intellect to have honest discussions, but yet they are able to become millionaires because they’re actually just circulizing and promulgating this fear.”
Shapiro responded a short time later, posting on X, “Hey, @theview, would love to come on to discuss. It’ll be tough, but I’m ready to take on this extraordinary intellectual challenge.”

Wednesday marked the latest episode in the ongoing saga, as former cohost Meghan McCain had tried (but failed) several times to convince producers to invite Shapiro to join the show as a guest. Despite their steadfast refusal to speak to him directly, the cohosts appear only too happy to call him out from the safety of their table.
Travis also responded to Sellers’ comments, saying that he too would be happy to step up to the table on the ABC midday talk show.

“Even with my lowly intellectual capacity, I would go on The View and have a debate with the hosts. Would be incredible TV. Given my intelligence was just directly attacked by name on their show, it seems only fair to allow me on and let their audience decide what to think of me,” he said.
