Biden official criticized for actions in China: ‘Unacceptable, Never Again’
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen Criticized for Bowing to Chinese Official
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is facing severe criticism for her actions during a recent trip to Beijing. According to the New York Post, Yellen bowed multiple times during a photo op handshake with Vice Premier He Lifeng, China’s top economic official.
Bradley Blakeman, a former White House aide, expressed his disapproval, stating, “An American official does not bow. It looks like she’s been summoned to the principal’s office, and that’s exactly the optics the Chinese love.”

The Post also highlighted the timing of Yellen’s actions, as 13 People’s Liberation Army aircraft and six ships entered the airspace and waters near Taiwan, a region that China claims should be part of their nation.
According to Fox News, Yellen’s trip did not result in any agreements, and the blame for the strained relationship between the United States and China was placed on the United States.
The village crazy lady goes to China. She did not realize bowing as an American official was a breach of protocol. They don’t reciprocate. He even backs away to give her more space to kowtow.https://t.co/FXHdO6Cii1

Despite the lack of concrete outcomes, Yellen remained optimistic about the future of the relationship between the U.S. and China. She stated, “President Biden and I do not see the relationship between the U.S. and China through the frame of great power conflict. We believe that the world is big enough for both of our countries to thrive.”
Yellen emphasized the importance of open dialogue and cooperation, expressing hope for deeper engagement between the two nations.
