Biden Admin Uses $300K in Taxpayer Funds to Research Minority Kids’ Interest in Japanese Comics

The Biden Administration’s ⁣Investment in Diversity, Equity, and⁢ Inclusion

The Biden ‍administration is taking steps to promote diversity, ⁤equity, and‌ inclusion⁤ in the nation’s libraries. As ‌part of ‌this initiative, taxpayer funds are being used‍ to study why minority children are drawn to Japanese comic books, known as manga.

The Institute of ‍Museum and Library Services, a federal ‍agency under the National Foundation on⁢ the Arts and the Humanities, has awarded New York’s Queens College $313,318 to conduct a three-year study on manga. The goal‌ is⁣ to understand why⁤ black, indigenous, and people of color kids are ⁤interested ⁤in manga and to bridge the⁢ knowledge gap for librarians who may be unfamiliar with ⁢this style of comic book. Additionally, the study aims to ‍identify popular ⁤manga titles among teenagers. This grant is provided under the Laura Bush 21st⁢ Century Librarian Program, which seeks ‍to develop a diverse‌ library and ‌archival workforce and address issues⁣ of diversity, ‌equity, ‍and⁣ inclusion in libraries.

This investment in diversity, equity, and‌ inclusion is just one example of how the Biden administration is utilizing ‍taxpayer dollars. The State Department, for instance, has allocated $100,000 to‍ Palestinian groups to⁢ promote DEI principles and is spending $12 million to implement DEI ‌in Iraq. Furthermore, the administration has recently allocated $90,000 to study diversity, equity, and inclusion in the ‍construction industry. The Washington Free Beacon has reported that the Biden State Department has spent⁤ nearly $5⁤ million to support foreign ‍activist‌ groups in organizing pride parades and drag ‌shows.

Queens College ‌and Manga in Libraries

Queens College will⁣ collaborate with an organization called Manga in Libraries, ⁤which was established in 2021 to promote manga in school and public⁤ libraries. This group‍ recommends manga ‌titles that focus on racial, LGBTQ, and disability issues. ⁤For example,⁤ one recommended title is The Bride Was⁣ a Boy,⁢ a charming tale about ⁣a woman assigned male at birth who explores her sexuality, gender, and transition.

To encourage ⁣the ‍inclusion of girls in manga, Manga in Libraries suggests The Ancient Magus’ Bride. This manga tells the story ‌of Ainsworth, a seven-foot-tall humanoid with an animal skull for a head, who ⁢marries a 15-year-old orphan girl he purchased ‌at a slave⁤ auction.

It’s worth noting that an increasing number of Democrats ‍have shown an interest in nerdy hobbies like manga. For instance, Missouri Democrat Lucas Kunce, who is‍ challenging Sen. Josh Hawley (R.), owns up to $50,000 worth of Magic: The Gathering cards.
