President Joe Biden’s latest campaign strategy is a plea to Nikki Haley supporters to “join us” in his newest ad.
The 30-second ad features many of his opponent, former President Donald Trump’s digs at the onetime U.N. ambassador while she was running against him for the Republican nomination. Trump is heard calling Haley a “bird brain,” “crazy,” and “a very angry person,” among other things.
“If you voted for Nikki Haley … Donald Trump doesn’t want your vote,” the video’s captions read. “Save America. Join us.”
Biden has pined for Haley’s supporters ever since she dropped out of the race on Super Tuesday this year.
“Donald Trump made it clear he doesn’t want Nikki Haley’s supporters. I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign,” Biden said in a statement after Haley dropped out. “I know there is a lot we won’t agree on. But on the fundamental issues of preserving American democracy, on standing up for the rule of law, on treating each other with decency and dignity and respect, on preserving NATO and standing up to America’s adversaries, I hope and believe we can find common ground.”
