Biden Continues Pattern of Ignoring His Fifth Granddaughter’s Existence
Joe Biden continues to ignore grandchild fathered by Hunter Biden President Joe Biden continued his pattern of ignoring the existence of his fifth granddaughter on Wednesday, snubbing the daughter that his son Hunter fathered with Lunden Alexis Roberts, who is engaged in a child support battle with the president’s son.
The child, Navy Joan Roberts, was born in Arkansas in August 2018. The child was conceived while Hunter was in a relationship with Hallie Biden, his deceased brother Beau Biden’s widow, and the child has been living with her mother. Joe Biden has five granddaughters — Naomi, Finnegan, Maisy, Natalie, and Navy Joan — but he claimed to only have four on Wednesday.

Hunter Biden had initially denied paternity and any memory of meeting the mother at the Mpire Club in the nation’s capital, but a judge said in January 2020 the court “finds the results of the DNA tests indicate with near scientific certainty that the defendant is the biological father of the child in this case.” Hunter settled with Roberts for $2.5 million in 2020, but the case was later reopened, and the president’s son is engaged in an Arkansas court battle to lower his payments.
The younger Biden is also a father to four other children. He shares three daughters with his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, as well as a son with his current wife, Melissa Cohen.
President Biden delivered remarks on the Upper East Side of New York City for a fundraiser for the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign on Wednesday, and Biden at the end of his remarks showered praise on his grandchildren, according to White House pool reports.
Biden ended his remarks by introducing one of his granddaughters, Finnegan, to the crowd.
“I have four granddaughters and they are crazy about me,” Joe Biden said, with the president incorrectly stating how many granddaughters he has.
This is not the first time Joe Biden has publicly snubbed Hunter Biden’s out-of-wedlock daughter.
Joe Biden, who has seven grandchildren, claimed during a Take Your Child to Work Day event in April on the South Lawn of the White House that “I have six grandchildren, and I’m crazy about them, and I speak to them every single day.” Biden added that “they’re crazy about me because I pay so much attention to them.”
Biden individually described six of his grandchildren — Naomi, Finnegan, Maisy, Natalie, Hunter, and Beau — but neglected to mention the girl his son Hunter fathered in 2018.
The president again snubbed Navy Joan during a Democratic National Committee reception in California in March when he discussed his decision to run for the presidency in 2020.
“I have six now, I had four grandchildren — or, excuse me, five grandchildren — three granddaughters and — four granddaughters and a grandson,” Biden said. “And they started to tell me why they thought I should run.”
For Christmas displays at the White House in 2021 and 2022, the Bidens hung Christmas stockings for each of their grandchildren, with the exception of the daughter Hunter Biden had with Roberts.
Joe Biden said during a National Grandparents Day event in September 2022 that “for Jill and me, our grandchildren are the love of our lives and the life of our love.”
In December 2022, lawyers for Roberts filed to change the surname of her 4-year-old daughter to “Biden” and argued the Biden name is “now synonymous with being well educated, successful, financially acute, and politically powerful.” Hunter Biden’s lawyers have sought to block his daughter from taking on the family name.
Judge Holly Lodge Meyer, who is handling Hunter Biden’s child support case in Arkansas, said earlier this month that Roberts and President Joe Biden’s son will need to sit for depositions in June, where Hunter will need to answer detailed questions about his income.
Republicans have long contended Hunter Biden’s lucrative business dealings in Ukraine and China indicate he may have committed crimes related to foreign lobbying or money laundering, although multiple recent reports have indicated U.S. Attorney David Weiss, a Trump-appointed holdover and the Delaware prosecutor overseeing the case, may have narrowed his focus to Hunter Biden potentially committing tax fraud and lying on a federal gun form when purchasing a revolver.

Hunter Biden will need to answer written inquiries about the current state of his finances, including all of his investments, his art sales, and other relevant financial transactions.
Although Hunter Biden appeared in the Arkansas town courtroom earlier this month at the judge’s orders, he did not speak. A trial to figure out whether what he owes can be adjusted is scheduled to begin in July.
