Biden to meet lawmakers on Tuesday for debt talks, optimistic.
Biden Optimistic About Debt Limit Deal
President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he expects to meet with congressional leaders on Tuesday to discuss a plan to raise the nation’s debt limit and avoid a catastrophic default. Despite the postponement of a meeting scheduled for Friday, Biden remains optimistic about reaching an agreement. He stated that he had received an update on how talks had gone between administration staffers and their congressional counterparts, and believes that there is a desire on both sides to reach a deal. Biden still plans to leave on a trip to Japan this week for a meeting of G7 leaders.
