Biden fails at Air Force Academy graduation.
President Biden Takes a Tumble at Air Force Academy Graduation
President Joe Biden fell onstage after handing out the last diploma at the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation ceremony in Colorado.
Despite the fall, the 80-year-old president quickly got back up with the help of Air Force officials and Secret Service. He even pointed to the black sandbag that caused him to stumble before walking off the stage on his own power.
Celebrating the Graduates
Before the incident, President Biden delivered a speech to the cadets and handed out diplomas to the 920 graduates. It was a momentous occasion for the young men and women who have dedicated themselves to serving their country.
Reassurance from the White House
White House Communications Director Ben LaBolt took to Twitter to reassure the public that President Biden was okay. “He’s fine. There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands,” LaBolt tweeted.
This isn’t the first time President Biden has taken a tumble. He fell off his bike while greeting a crowd in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in June 2022, and has stumbled up the stairs to Air Force One on a few occasions. But each time, he has bounced back quickly and continued on with his duties.
A Presidential Announcement
Despite his age and occasional falls, President Biden announced in April that he will be seeking a second term in 2024. If he wins, he will be the oldest U.S. president in history.
