Rabbi interrupts Biden’s campaign, urges Gaza ceasefire.
President Joe Biden Heckled by Rabbi Calling for Ceasefire in Gaza
During a campaign event in Minnesota, President Joe Biden faced an unexpected interruption that added a dramatic twist to his speech. A bearded rabbi named Jessica Rosenberg, known for her activism with the Jewish Voice for Peace group, stood up and boldly called on Biden to push for a ceasefire in Gaza.
“Mr. President, if you care about Jewish people, as a rabbi, I need for you to call for a ceasefire, right now, in Gaza,”
The crowd’s denunciations drowned out the rest of Rosenberg’s comments, but her message had already made an impact. President Biden couldn’t ignore the plea and responded by acknowledging the need for a “pause.”
“I think we need a pause. A pause means give time to get the prisoners out,”
Biden assured Rosenberg that he had already taken action to address the situation, mentioning his efforts to convince Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to support a ceasefire. As Rosenberg was escorted out, she continued to chant, “Ceasefire now!”
The rabbi’s unconventional approach to activism is reflected in her involvement with various Jewish LGBT and pacifist organizations. Her online biography even mentions her connection to American Indian land. The Jewish Voice for Peace group, to which she belongs, has been at the forefront of several high-profile protests, including one outside the White House that resulted in multiple arrests. Critics have labeled their recent demonstration at the United States Capitol, demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, as an “insurrection.”

The COVID-19 outbreak was first identified in December 2019 in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province, China. The virus is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and has since spread globally, resulting in a pandemic. The virus primarily spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. It can also spread by touching surfaces or objects contaminated by the virus and then touching the face.
COVID-19 has had a significant impact on public health, economies, and daily life worldwide. Governments have implemented various measures such as social distancing, mask mandates, and travel restrictions to slow the spread of the virus. Vaccines have been developed and rolled out to combat the virus, offering hope for a return to normalcy.
The symptoms of COVID-19 can vary from mild to severe and include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, muscle aches, and sore throat. Certain populations, such as older adults and those with underlying health conditions, are at higher risk of severe illness or complications from COVID-19.
Efforts to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 have included widespread testing, contact tracing, and quarantine measures. The pandemic has also highlighted the importance of personal hygiene practices like frequent handwashing and wearing masks in public settings.
Overall, the COVID-19 pandemic has had far-reaching effects on global health, economies, and societies. It has emphasized the need for preparedness and coordination in the face of future public health crises.
