Biden embraces Eva Longoria, playfully recalls meeting her at 17.
President Biden’s Playful Encounter with Eva Longoria at the White House
President Biden shared a lighthearted moment with actress Eva Longoria during a film screening of her directorial debut, “Flamin’ Hot,” at the White House. The event took place on the picturesque South Lawn, where the audience gathered to enjoy the movie.
In his characteristic jovial manner, President Biden addressed the crowd, remarking, “We’ve known each other a long time.” He playfully added, “She was 17, I was 40,” eliciting laughter from the audience.
Of course, the age difference between Longoria and Biden was not as significant as the president jokingly suggested. At the time, Longoria would have been a seven-year-old when Biden was 40, and she would have been 17 when he turned 50.
During the event, the 80-year-old president embraced the 48-year-old actress in one of his signature hugs. As the hug concluded, Longoria gently moved away, playfully redirecting the president’s hands. While the moment was captured on video, it’s important to note that the footage can be misleading and taken out of context.

A Longstanding Friendship and Political Support
Longoria has been a longtime supporter of President Biden, endorsing him during the 2020 election. The “Desperate Housewives” actress has known Biden for over a decade and even campaigned alongside him and former President Barack Obama in 2012.
President Biden’s physical interactions with women and young girls have occasionally drawn attention. One notable incident occurred in 2015 when he stood closely behind Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s wife, whispering in her ear during her husband’s swearing-in ceremony. These instances have been widely discussed and criticized.

Despite the playful encounter with Longoria, President Biden commended her film, “Flamin’ Hot,” which tells the inspiring story of a Mexican American janitor who allegedly came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. However, the claims made by the real-life janitor, Richard Montanez, have been questioned by a Los Angeles Times investigation.
The White House defended its decision to screen the film, emphasizing that it is not a documentary but rather an opportunity to showcase diverse stories and celebrate individuals from different backgrounds.
