House GOP requests interviews with David Weiss and 12 federal officials for Biden investigation.

House Committees Request Interviews with Key Officials in Hunter Biden Investigation

The chairmen of the House Oversight, Ways and Means, and Judiciary Committees have made a formal request for interviews with at least 13 key officials involved in the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden. This includes the prosecutor who led the case into President Joe Biden’s son.

Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) of Ways and Means, Jim Jordan (R-OH) of Judiciary, and James Comer (R-KY) of Oversight have sent letters to the heads of the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Justice, and United States Secret Service, seeking access to employees who they believe have information regarding allegations of politicization and misconduct during the investigation.

Republicans Ramp Up Inquiry

Following the release of testimony from two IRS whistleblowers last week, claiming significant interference from the DOJ in U.S. Attorney David Weiss’ investigation into Hunter Biden, House Republicans have intensified their inquiry. They are determined to uncover the details of what they have referred to as a “sweetheart deal” for the president’s son. Hunter Biden is expected to plead guilty to federal charges, including tax charges and a gun charge.

The chairmen have specifically requested interviews with 11 DOJ employees, including Weiss, before the Judiciary Committee. They have also requested interviews with two IRS employees before the Ways and Means Committee, and an undisclosed number of Secret Service agents before the Oversight Committee.

Concerns Over Tip-Off and Obstruction

The Secret Service agents of interest are those who received a tip-off on December 7, 2020, that IRS criminal investigators intended to interview Hunter Biden. According to a whistleblower, the FBI and the Biden transition team were notified about this plan. The whistleblower alleges that this tip-off provided an opportunity for a group close to President Biden and Hunter Biden to obstruct the investigation.

The committees have stated that the testimony of these employees is necessary to fully assess the allegations. They have given the agencies until July 13 to begin scheduling the transcribed interviews and have warned that subpoenas may be issued if cooperation is not received.

Restoring Accountability and Equal Enforcement of the Law

In a statement, the chairmen emphasized the importance of holding bad actors accountable and restoring the equal enforcement of the law. They believe that the evidence provided by whistleblowers demonstrates an attempt to cover up for the Bidens and a misuse of federal law enforcement power.

Collaboration Between Committees

The three committees are working together following the testimony of two IRS whistleblowers, who claimed that Weiss was blocked by the Justice Department from pursuing charges in his preferred jurisdiction. They also alleged that his request for a special counsel was denied, contradicting Weiss’ previous statement about having ultimate authority over the case.

Attorney General Merrick Garland has denied any political interference and stated that Weiss was free to pursue the charges he deemed appropriate.

WhatsApp Messages and Allegations of Bribery

The whistleblowers also revealed WhatsApp messages between Hunter Biden and Chinese business associates, where he mentioned his father’s name multiple times while seeking financial support. These messages resulted in significant payments being made to Hunter Biden’s bank account shortly after he dropped his father’s name.

President Biden has defended his son and dismissed allegations of a criminal bribery scheme as “malarkey.”

Additional Allegations and Concealed Information

The testimony from the whistleblowers follows unverified allegations made in an FBI-generated document, suggesting that the head of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, paid Hunter Biden and then-Vice President Joe Biden $5 million each to pressure the Ukrainian government to fire a prosecutor investigating the company. Hunter Biden served on the board of Burisma at the time.

The IRS whistleblowers have claimed that the DOJ concealed information related to these foreign bribery allegations from investigators working on Hunter Biden’s case.
