Biden pushes for booster shots ‘across the board,’ calls on all eligible Americans to go get third dose

Joe Biden is pushing for booster shots across the board, calling on everyone who is eligible to get one as soon as possible. Biden’s latest message contradicts months of previous statements in which he originally claimed booster shots were only needed after eight months. Although, later on he changed the number to six months, then five, and then only for Pfizer vaccine recipients.
His comments come as his Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director went around her own committee’s recommendation against booster shots, instead endorsing them for frontline workers.
“I believe we can best serve the nation’s public health needs by providing booster doses for the elderly, those in long-term care facilities, people with underlying medical conditions, and for adults at high risk of disease from occupational and institutional exposures to COVID-19,” said Dr. Rochelle Walensky in a statement.
Meanwhile, earlier this week the Food and Drug Administration expanded the emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s vaccine, allowing some people to receive a third dose. The Biden administration recommended those over 65-years-old and those with underlying medical conditions, receive the booster shot.

The new regulations and guidance cover over 20 million Americans for a third injection, including frontline and health care workers.
