Biden reiterates ‘misleading’ claim, dubbed ‘Bottomless Pinocchio’ by left-leaning WaPo.

President Joe Biden’s Fictional Claim of Reducing America’s Budget Deficit

President Joe Biden made a bold statement during a South Carolina appearance, declaring that he had successfully reduced America’s budget deficit. However, this claim has already been denounced as fiction by fact-checkers.

Biden confidently stated, “I cut the deficit $1.7 trillion in two years. Nobody’s ever done that – cut the debt $1.7 [trillion].” This statement has been thoroughly examined by Fox News and deemed misleading.

The Washington Post’s fact-checker, Glenn Kessler, was particularly irritated by this claim and gave Biden a severe scolding, assigning it a rating of “Bottomless Pinocchio.” This rating is reserved for “false or misleading statements repeated so often that they became a form of propaganda.”

Kessler’s frustration with Biden’s repeated use of this incorrect deficit figure is evident. He stated that the claim was “highly misleading” and worthy of “Three Pinocchios.” Kessler also highlighted that Biden had increased the national debt by about $850 billion more than originally projected in his first two budgets.

Furthermore, Kessler pointed out that the deficit picture has worsened under Biden, and the president has enacted legislation that will require the federal government to borrow even more. The numbers don’t lie, and Biden has earned his second “Bottomless Pinocchio.”

In an Op-Ed in Roll Call, David Winston highlighted Biden’s spending habits. He described Biden as a big spender who saw the 2020 federal budget as an opportunity for a historic spending spree.

If Biden’s proposed 2024 budget were to pass, it would add as much to the national debt as Trump and Bush 43 combined. The Congressional Budget Office projects that the annual deficit will exceed $1 trillion dollars through 2029 and then skyrocket to over $2 trillion dollars for the years spanning 2030-2033.

According to Fox, the Congressional Budget Office reported that in the first seven months of the 2023 federal fiscal year, the deficit was nearly $1 trillion. These numbers paint a concerning picture of America’s budget deficit under Biden’s administration.
