Biden says administration is close to finding leaker of classified documents
President Joe Biden announced that the administration is getting closer to identifying the individual responsible for the leak of Pentagon classified documents.
According to Biden, there is presently a comprehensive investigation underway within the intelligence community and the Justice Department. Although the authorities are getting closer, Biden is unable to provide any additional information at this time.
Biden, who is presently visiting with Irish President Michael Higgins in Dublin, indicates that the administration is not unduly concerned about the leaks. This is due to the fact that the documents did not reveal any “contemporaneous” information, as the administration believes. Additionally, several government agencies, including South Korea, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom, have remarked that some of the leaked documents may be phony or inaccurate, and as yet, it is unclear who may be behind the alterations or why.
However, some of the leaked Pentagon documents suggest that U.S. intelligence operatives may have infiltrated the top echelons of Russian military, with the Russian Defense Ministry providing details about their assault on two different Ukrainian troop positions.
The Discord chat service, which is by invitation only, was reportedly the location of the leaked documents, which were disseminated in February, according to a report in the Washington Post. While Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin claims that he was only informed about the leaked documents on April 6th and began summoning military officials for daily briefing sessions on April 7th, the individual who disseminated the documents, referred to as “OG,” supposedly worked at a military facility, brought home the sensitive documents, and shared them with a group consisting of around 25 members that included U.S. nationals and foreigners. The chat group was created during the COVID-19 epidemic.
John Kirby, a National Security Council spokesman, has also been questioned about the leak. During a White House press conference, Kirby stated that no decisions had been made regarding the extent of the leak or the possibility of releasing additional documents in the future.

When questioned on Monday about whether the documents would complicate Ukrainian defense plans, Chris Meagher, assistant to the secretary of defense for public affairs, stated, “I’m not going to speculate on impact on the battlefield, but I will say that, you know, the Ukrainians have demonstrated their capability and competence in this war.” He continued, “The president and the secretary have both made clear that the United States is going to be with them for as long it takes, and we’re going to continue to work to provide them with the capabilities, with the ammunition, with the equipment, and with the training that they need to be successful in defense of their sovereign territory, so that commitment continues.”
