Biden Says He Has ‘No Comment on Trump’ After Indictment

President Joe Biden and his administration have chosen not to comment on the indictment of former President Donald Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on Thursday.

During his visit to Mississippi to observe the areas that were destroyed by tornadoes on Friday, Biden was approached by reporters asking for his response to Trump’s charges. However, he avoided the question and said, “I have no comment on Trump.” Instead, he shifted the conversation towards Russia’s detention of a Wall Street Journal reporter, insisting that they should release him.

Trump had previously hinted at his possible indictment on Truth Social, sparking numerous inquiries from the White House. However, they refused to give any statements regarding the matter, saying that they do not comment on ongoing investigations.

Democratic leaders, such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have been relatively restrained regarding the charges against Trump. Schumer stated on Twitter that Trump is subject to the same laws as every American and will face a legal system and a jury, not politics, and it will determine his fate based on facts and evidence. Likewise, Pelosi posted on Twitter but attracted controversy regarding her comment that Trump must “prove” his “innocence,” with criticisms that she broke Anglo-American rule of jurisprudence, which assumes innocence until proven guilty.

There has been no statement given by the Attorney General Merrick Garland or the Department of Justice in relation to Trump’s indictment. Instead, it has been reported that the DOJ declined to investigate Trump over alleged payments made to Stormy Daniels and named a special.
