A number of Democrats have voiced their displeasure with President Joe Biden in the wake of his decision to withhold promised military aid if Israel launches a full-scale ground operation in Rafah.

While none have expressly said that Biden’s actions with regard to Israel would drive them to support another candidate in the 2024 presidential race, they have called on the Biden administration to reconsider the very clear message such actions send both to Israel and the terrorist group Hamas.

“Hard disagree and deeply disappointing,” Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) said via X, sharing a CNN headline that read, “Biden says he will stop sending bombs and artillery shells to Israel if they launch major invasion of Rafah.”

“As the leader of the free world, America cannot claim that its commitment to Israel is ‘iron-clad’ and then proceed to withhold aid from Israel. The mixed messaging makes a mockery of our credibility as an ally. No one will take our word seriously,” Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) said.

Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL) told Axios that she United States should fulfill its obligation and deliver the promised aid and weapons.

“From Hamas’s Oct 7 invasion to Iran’s recent attack, Israel is under constant threat from terrorists that want to eliminate her. We must ensure that our ally Israel has the tools she needs to defeat Hamas and defend herself from other bad actors,” she added in a post to X.

Republicans also criticized Biden’s actions, saying that withholding aid from Israel was nothing short of a betrayal of a longtime ally.

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro minced no words on the subject, saying that Biden had “sided with Hamas” when he said he would not send the promised ammunition.

Republican commentator Scott Jennings drew another comparison during a CNN panel discussion on Wednesday, saying that what Biden had done was an impeachable offense by the standard set when Democrats used former President Donald Trump’s now-infamous “Ukraine phone call” to impeach him.
