The CEO of Bursima Holdings: A Decade to Uncover Illicit Payments to President Joe Biden
The CEO of Bursima Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company that hired Hunter Biden, made a shocking claim to a confidential FBI source. According to an FBI report released by Congress on Thursday, the CEO stated that it would take investigators over ten years to find records of illicit payments to President Joe Biden.
Burisma Holdings, previously under investigation by Ukraine’s Prosecutor-General Viktor Shokin, had hired Hunter Biden to join its board of directors. Despite his lack of experience in the energy industry, Hunter was offered a monthly salary of $50,000.
In a conversation with the FBI source, Mykola Zlochevsky, the CEO of Burisma and a former Ukrainian government minister, revealed that the company had made illicit payments to both Hunter Biden and Joe Biden. These payments were made to secure political protection, and Zlochevsky claimed that it would be impossible for investigators to uncover them.
“Zlochevsky responded it would take them (investigators) 10 years to find the records (i.e. illicit payments to Joe Biden),” the source reported in 2019, while also noting that Zlochevsky said “he didn’t want to pay the Bidens and he was ‘pushed to pay’ them.”
The purpose of these payments was for Hunter Biden to “protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems.”
At the time, Burisma was seeking to expand its business and avoid a corruption investigation by Shokin. Zlochevsky cited this investigation as the reason for the payments. Despite advice against this measure, Zlochevsky had already paid the Bidens to “deal with Shokin.”
In 2018, Joe Biden himself recounted an instance when he told Ukrainian officials that aid would be withheld unless the prosecutor, Shokin, was fired. This incident raised questions about potential political interference.
The report, released by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, also includes incriminating statements made by Zlochevsky against both Hunter and Joe Biden. Zlochevsky suggested that both Bidens received payments from Burisma Holdings.
It is important to note that Zlochevsky is currently a fugitive in Ukraine on separate corruption charges, and his whereabouts are unknown. However, he claims to possess text messages and recordings that prove he was coerced into making these payments to the Bidens.
The report highlights that it is a federal crime for a public official to receive a bribe in exchange for performing an official act.
As of now, Biden’s 2024 presidential campaign has not responded to requests for comment.
