Biden’s Border Patrol Chief Bucks DHS Secretary Mayorkas: The U.S. Southern Border Is Not Secure
Raul Ortiz of the Border Patrol testified Wednesday before Congress that the Department of Homeland Security has not been given operational control of the U.S. Southern Border under President Joe Biden. This is directly in contradiction with the statement made by Alejandro Mayorkas (DHS Secretary).
Ortiz made these remarks in McAllen (Texas) during a House Homeland Security Committee hearing. He was responding to a question by Chairman Mark Green regarding security at the U.S.-Mexico frontier.
“Does DHS have operational control of our entire border?” Green asked.
“No sir,” Ortiz responded.
Behind Green featured a poster board showing that “operational control,” According to U.S. law, “is” is “the prevention of all unlawful entries into the United States, including entries by terrorists, other unlawful aliens, instruments of terrorism, narcotics and other contraband.”
Green then showed a video of Rep. Chip Roy (R.TX) asking Mayorkas last January whether the U.S. has operational control over the southern border. “Yes, we do,” Mayorkas claimed. “Yes, we do.”
Green then asked Ortiz if Mayorkas was lying. Ortiz replied by saying that operational controls used to be the way officials assessed whether they were successful. He stated that their new strategy was “geared towards mission advantage.”
Ortiz once again confirmed that DHS has no operational control over the southern frontier, but when Ortiz was asked whether Mayorkas was lying he politely declined to answer the question, in an apparent effort to avoid saying anything negative about his boss.

This hearing is occurring as the administration has witnessed a historic flow of millions of illegal immigrants into the U.S., which is mostly due to the fact that Biden’s policies act as magnets for migrants and cartel-smugglers.
The New York Times reported The Mexican drug cartels saw a staggering increase in their human smuggling profits last year. They made $500 million per year in 2018, and $13 billion by 2022. This is a 2,500% increase.
