Joe Biden is continuing to pander to Beijing as his pick for commerce secretary is considering easing restrictions on Chinese tech giant Huawei.

In her Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday, Gov. Gina Raimondo (D-R.I.) said she would not commit to keeping Huawei blacklisted and barred from doing business with U.S. companies. She suggested Huawei may be taken off the Commerce Department’s list of entities that pose a threat to U.S. national security.

Earlier this month, President Trump banned U.S. companies from sending any supplies to Huawei to punish it for stealing American technology.

Raimondo outlined unspecific steps she would take to counter Beijing.

“We need to invest in innovation and technology in our manufacturing sector and take aggressive trade enforcement actions to combat unfair trade practices, from China and other nations, that undercut American manufacturing,” Raimondo said,

In the past, Raimondo faced accusations of corruption while serving as Rhode Island governor after she granted state contracts without competition.
