Biden’s Poll Numbers Take a Nosedive—Again

President Joe Biden’s approval rating has plummeted to 33 percent for the second time this year, Quinnipiac University found in a poll released Wednesday.

Biden’s historically low numbers tie his approval rating in Quinnipiac’s January poll. His disapproval rating, meanwhile, has risen 1 point since January, from 53 percent to 54 percent.

Large majorities of Republicans—94 percent—and independents—56 percent—disapprove of the president’s job. Those numbers include a majority of Hispanics—54 percent—and a quarter of blacks. Those figures will worry Democrats, who are rapidly losing minority voters, once considered a reliable Democratic bloc.

Respondents also oppose Biden’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, 48 percent to 39 percent. More than 8 in 10 Americans are ready to label Russian president Vladimir Putin a war criminal. Roughly two-thirds of Americans think the United States has a moral responsibility to do more in Ukraine, though a majority oppose “increasing the risk of the United States getting into a war with Russia.”

The president’s poll numbers have been plummeting for months thanks to skyrocketing inflation, sluggish economic growth, the COVID-19 pandemic, his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the Russian invasion.
