Trabuco Hills High School Football Team Shows Ability to Create Big Plays
When it comes to successful football teams, the ability to make big plays is crucial. Trabuco Hills High School has proven this in their first two games of the season, resulting in a perfect 2-0 record heading into their upcoming game against Irvine on September 8.
In their previous games, the Mustangs showcased their knack for creating game-changing moments. In their first game against Huntington Beach, they recovered two fumbles and built a three-touchdown lead within the first seven minutes, securing a 31-28 victory. They continued their impressive performance in their second game against Crean Lutheran, winning 31-21 with huge defensive and offensive plays in the fourth quarter.

One of the standout moments came when Trabuco Hills turned a botched punt snap into a go-ahead touchdown just before halftime. Senior Ben Holland scored the crucial touchdown, giving the Mustangs the lead. Coach Mark Nolan described the game as a well-played, great high school football game.
Trabuco Hills’ ability to come up with game-changing moments was evident once again when they stopped Crean Lutheran from scoring a potential two-possession game. Senior Jalen McDowell made a crucial play by stripping the ball from the quarterback, leading to a fumble recovery by teammate Joey Carlos.
The Mustangs capitalized on their defensive stop and quickly regained the lead with a touchdown run by senior Taylor Bowie. Led by McDowell, Bowie, and other senior players, Trabuco Hills’ defense continued to shine, ultimately securing the victory.
Bowie, who had an outstanding performance with three touchdowns and over 100 yards rushing, emphasized the team’s unity and brotherhood. He credited their success to their hard work, dedication, and support for each other.
The Mustangs’ quarterback, Jacob Perry, displayed efficient play, completing nine of 12 passes for 101 yards with no turnovers. With a strong offensive line and talented running backs like Bowie and junior Maxwell Hales, Trabuco Hills has the potential for a consistently effective offense.
Defensively, there is still room for improvement, but the team’s ability to create big plays has undoubtedly made a difference in their early success. Trabuco Hills High School’s football team is proving to be a force to be reckoned with this season.
