Big Tech’s Censorship Hypocrisy Knows No Bounds

Guest op-eds do not necessarily reflect the views of the author. RedState.com.

After years of Big Tech censoring conservatives and enforcing Chinese COVID-19 lies and colluding to advance leftist narratives with the Biden administration, Carl Szabo, Big Tech lobbyist, published a recent op-ed Criticizing the federal government for censoring conservatives is hypocritical. Szabo’s editorial is more hypocritical because this isn’t the first time Big Tech has tried gaslight Americans about its far-reaching agenda of censorship.

Szabo claimed in his Op-Ed that the federal government is at fault “coerced” Twitter executives to censor content – as if Twitter didn’t wholeheartedly jump into bed with the Biden administration to do so.

“Because of the Twitter files,” Szabo wrote, “we’ve learned that agencies we trust like the FBI and the FDA, as well as the White House, blocked discussion of Hunter Biden’s laptop, promoted the Russia collusion hoax and blacklisted a Stanford doctor for warning that COVID lockdowns would harm children. Such actions have serious consequences on individuals and society as a whole.”

Really? Big Tech never suppressed, blocked, or censored elected officials and university professors.

It wasn’t the FBI or anybody else who de-platformed such experts and blocked political speech – it was Big Tech itself. The Twitter Files exposed Big Tech’s multifaceted unilateral action to censor conservatives long before – and in many cases, independent of – any assistance by the federal government. Big Tech is now being exposed. The corporate lobbyists for Big Tech are trying to convince us that they were simply victims of the federal government’s strong-arming. They want us to believe that they never intended to censor any speech, conservative or otherwise. This idea is absurd and counter-factual.

We now have two co-conspirators – Big Tech and the federal government – seeking to avoid culpability by blaming each other for their mutual transgressions. So, the federal government can’t lawfully limit free speech. It claims that it is merely “suggested” Big Tech decided to pursue these censorship measures later. Big Tech says it didn’t want to censor conservatives, but only because the federal government forced them to. Both are lying. Both are lying.

Big Tech isn’t the only one to speak out against its censorship efforts towards conservatives. In legislative hearings over the past two years, Big Tech lobbyists have repeatedly stated that Big Tech has never targeted conservatives and that legislators do not have any right or reason to limit Big Tech’s censorship activities. Big Tech’s corporate lobbyists were so stingy as to disparage citizens who came to public hearings to tell their personal stories about being censored. On July 12, 2021, an elderly citizen in Texas testified that Facebook had removed her opposition to a wind energy project in a Texas nature reserve. A Big Tech lobbyist railed against the senior citizen at a public forum two days later. He stated that she and all other Texans who spoke out against Facebook censorship at that hearing were “censored”. “antivaxxers who wanted to be sure they could force Facebook, Twitter, and Google to carry lots of information about the dangers of vaccines.” Neither the senior citizen nor any other Texan that testified at that hearing mentioned vaccines. The public slander is not being rescinded.

Big Tech started a new scam, after it had obstructed in legislative hearings any government actions to protect online free speech rights. Big Tech was the victim of a scam last year. A series of public ads was launched They told the public that they are not responsible for their censorship activities because censoring decisions can be difficult. Big Tech wants more government regulations, but the government will not enact them. Big Tech wants us to believe that their passionate testimony against censorship in Texas and elsewhere has never been heard.

Szabo claimed that conservatives should be afraid of government intervention in speech platforms. “Revelations that our government worked to suppress speech it didn’t like should horrify all Americans,” Szabo wrote that conservatives are the best, but he and his boss repeatedly claimed otherwise. Should trust and question the Biden administration You can create and moderate any free speech website online.

Big Tech may be trying save itself from being accused of censoring American speech. But its words and actions make it look like they are.
