Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) claimed that recent events have cemented President Joe Biden as an “unstable” leader of the free world while President-elect Donald Trump is working to fix the outgoing president’s global mistakes.
Hagerty appeared on Sunday Morning Futures on the heels of Syrian rebels taking over Damascus. As a result, Syrian President Bashar al Assad and his family fled to Russia after President Vladimir Putin granted them asylum. The Assad family had been head of Syria’s government for over 50 years and fled only 13 days after Syrian rebels began their offensive.
BIDEN’S ‘TRUMP-PROOFING’ FOREIGN POLICY REVOLVES AROUND UKRAINE AND NATO
“Just this week after Hamas fell — and it was obvious that everything was moving towards Damascus, that Syria was going to fall, that Assad would be out — the Biden administration was working back channel trying to relieve sanctions on Assad, trying to normalize relations with Syria. This is how out of touch they are,” Hagerty said. “It can’t come soon enough — January 20th, when President Trump comes to office.”
According to Hagerty, this is the “perfect moment” for Trump to bring back his Abraham Accords. Meanwhile, world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, tipped their hats to Trump during his visit to Paris. Trump was in the French capital city to commemorate the restoration of the Notre Dame cathedral. Hagerty predicted “the opportunity is before us to to get this resolved” when it comes to Ukraine and Russia.
“I think you see the way these world leaders are reacting. They have the same sense of relief that President Trump is coming into office that we feel all across America. The pain of the Biden-Harris administration has just been extensive and it’s not just here in America,” Hagerty said. “The Biden-Harris administration have put us in a far more unstable place.”
Trump has already welcomed Argentinian President Javier Milei and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to his Mar-a-Lago residence with several weeks left until his inauguration.
Meanwhile, Biden is fresh from his trip to Angola, where he met with African leaders at the Lobito Corridor Trans-Africa Summit. During the event last week, he appeared to fall asleep.
