Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher declared himself spokesman for “the normies” during a “CBS Sunday Morning” interview, claiming that his goal was to stay away from the extremes on either side of the political spectrum and speak to the overwhelming majority he believes are in the middle.
Maher told anchor Robert Costa that over time—and after reviewing a number of his old editorials for a book—he had come to the conclusion that he had not changed, and the country had.

“I speak for the normies. I speak for that vast middle that is tired of the partisanship. I don’t want to hate half the country, and I don’t hate half the country,” Maher said.
When prompted, Maher said that he typically found the extreme Right to be more “alarming” while the extreme Left was more likely to be a source of frustration or irritation – but he went on to say that he felt compelled to address the issues with both extremes because the truth was somewhere in the middle.
“The truth isn’t one-sided like that,” he explained. “The Democrats constantly are running against Trump with the idea ‘You people out there couldn’t possibly vote for this guy.’ And people are saying, ‘Watch me. Hold my beer. Watch me vote for him again.’”
While Maher has made no secret of his disapproval of former President Donald Trump — or the fact that he believes President Joe Biden, though certainly flawed, is preferable — he has often skewered the far Left, mainly to show them that their antics could result in another Trump victory.

“The Afghanistan culture — part of it — is we found out when we invaded and stayed there for 20 years. There are rich men who have, like, 10-year-old boys. That’s just a thing — like — you can get when you’re a rich guy; so keep marching for Hamas, kids. You really got your liberal eyes on the right prize here,” Maher recently told UFC President Dana White, referencing the students protesting Israel on college campuses.
“Now they’re cheering for Iran because they just fired all the missiles at Israel. So Iran is the good guys? You mean, the Ayatollah, the f***ing black-hearted, black-eyed, bomb-planting dude that we — captured our people?” he added.
