Bill Maher predicts Democrats will ‘lose the next one too’ for blaming inflation
Bill Maher disagreed with actor Jon Cryer that the 2024 election could be chalked up to concerns about inflation.
Cryer appeared on the Club Random podcast, which aired its most recent episode Sunday, to discuss his takeaways from the recent election. Cryer supported Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to Cryer, he has transgender friends who fear for their lives as a result of President-elect Donald Trump winning what Cryer called the “outrage cycle.” Maher responded by saying, “The Democrats shouldn’t have blown it.”
“You can blame them all you want. I believe, again, there was a worldwide reaction to the inflation bump after COVID,” Cryer said. “As I said, Americans hate inflation.”
“You keep telling yourself that, and you’ll lose the next one, too,” Maher said.
Maher admitted that he also voted for Harris and is “generally supportive” of the Democratic Party, just like the Two and a Half Men star.
Despite Harris’s long-standing popular vote record, she lost the 2024 presidential election popular vote and garnered fewer votes in 45 states and Washington, D.C., than her predecessor, President Joe Biden.
As a result of Trump winning the 2024 election, Maher has teased quitting his HBO show Real Talk instead of covering the president’s antics. On a previous episode of his podcast, Maher said he felt like “s***ing my pants” ahead of Trump taking office.
Maher could shift to purely podcasting, as many comedians have done before him. Last year, Maher launched the Club Random Studios podcast network in collaboration with Hollywood producers Chris Case and Chuck LaBella. The network hosts Club Random and the Sage Steele Show.
