Black Florida curriculum co-author criticizes Kamala Harris over slavery remarks.

A Black Professor Accuses ⁣Vice President Kamala Harris of ⁣Lying ‍About Slavery

A black professor and member of the Florida African American History Standards⁣ Workgroup, Dr. William⁢ Allen, has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of spreading ⁢falsehoods about⁤ the history ‌of slavery. In an interview with⁣ Fox ⁣News’s Jesse Watters, Dr. ‍Allen emphasized that⁤ the newly approved curriculum in⁢ Florida aims to tell the truth about slavery and black history, while Harris has perpetuated a lie.

“The curriculum is devoted to telling‍ the truth whereas Kamala Harris has⁢ retold a lie,” said Dr. Allen.

Harris’s Criticism of the Updated Curriculum

Last week, Vice President‍ Harris⁣ criticized the ⁤Florida Board of Education’s ⁣decision to update the school standards for ⁤teaching ‌slavery. The revised curriculum now includes instruction on how slaves benefited from the skills they acquired. Harris⁢ condemned this ⁢section ⁣as an insult and an attempt to gaslight the public.

“This is an insult. This is not telling the truth‌ about what happened,” ‌Harris stated.

Dr. Allen’s Response

Dr.⁢ Allen vehemently ‌refuted Harris’s claims about the curriculum, calling them an “absolute falsehood.” He also expressed concern that her ⁢comments were erasing the stories of black Americans who persevered and sought opportunities‍ despite their enslavement.

“The accomplishments of black people‍ post-slavery were not just the accomplishments of black Americans,⁢ but the accomplishments of American principles,” ⁤Dr. Allen explained. “And that is the truth that people seek to deny by erasing the stories⁢ of those who lived through history.”

Dr. Allen also criticized ⁤Harris for failing to acknowledge the resilience ⁣and achievements of black Americans in ‍her‍ remarks.

Harris’s Visit to Florida

During her visit to Florida,‌ Vice President ⁣Harris did not directly attribute the curriculum change ⁢to Governor Ron DeSantis. However, she did refer ‌to the state’s leaders as “extremists.”

According to Fox News, Dr. Allen also spoke to ABC ‌News about Harris’s comments on slavery,⁢ but the interview was⁢ never aired.
