Bobbi Barrasso, Senate leader’s wife, loses cancer battle
Sen. John Barrasso Mourns the Loss of His Wife Bobbi After Cancer Battle
Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) announced the heartbreaking news of his wife Bobbi’s passing on Thursday. After a courageous two-year fight against Glioblastoma brain cancer, Bobbi peacefully passed away in Casper, Wyoming.
“After a courageous battle with cancer, Bobbi is now at peace and at home with the Lord. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Bobbi was a leader, fierce advocate for Wyoming, and friend to everyone she met. We miss her dearly,” Barasso said in a statement.
John and Bobbi Barrasso’s love story began 25 years ago at a Republican convention, and they tied the knot on New Year’s Day in 2008. Bobbi, a breast cancer survivor, had previously worked in various Wyoming Senate offices, including her husband’s.
Bobbi was also actively involved in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Komen Wyoming events, demonstrating her dedication to fighting breast cancer.
Sen. Barrasso, who serves as the chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, had recently undergone abdominal surgery and was away from Washington, D.C. last week. Although he returned to Capitol Hill this week, he missed some votes on Wednesday.
Remembering Bobbi and Grateful for Support
Sen. Barrasso expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support from friends, family, and the community during this difficult time.
“On behalf of our entire family, we thank everyone for your prayers and continued support as we remember her and grieve together,” he added.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
What are the common symptoms of COVID-19 and who is at a higher risk of developing severe complications?
The coronavirus (COVID-19) is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by a new strain of the coronavirus. It was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and has since spread to countries all over the world. The virus primarily spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, but it can also spread by touching surfaces contaminated with the virus and then touching the face.
Symptoms of COVID-19 can range from mild to severe and may include fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, body aches, and loss of taste or smell. Some people may also experience more severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing or pneumonia. The elderly and those with underlying health conditions are at a higher risk of developing severe complications.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is important to practice good hygiene such as washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, wearing a mask in public places, practicing social distancing by staying at least 6 feet away from others, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick. It is also recommended to avoid non-essential travel and to stay home if feeling unwell.
COVID-19 has had significant impacts on economies, healthcare systems, and societies around the world. Many countries have implemented measures such as lockdowns, travel restrictions, and social distancing guidelines to slow the spread of the virus. Vaccines have been developed and are being administered in many countries to protect against COVID-19.
It is important to stay informed about the latest guidelines and recommendations from public health authorities to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
