Border Czar Kamala Harris To Avoid U.S.-Mexico Border During Visit to Arizona
Kamala Harris, Vice President and Border Czar, won’t be visiting the border with Arizona during her visit on Thursday.
The vice president will travel from Washington to Tonopah in Arizona. It is located about 100 miles from the border with Mexico. Harris was charged with finding the root cause for mass migration and the movement of hundreds of thousands more migrants. She has not visited the border since taking office in 2021.
Harris will attend the groundbreaking of a transmission line that will carry wind and solar energy through the region, which is 125 miles long, instead of stopping at the border. The vice president will be joined by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and National Climate Adviser Ali Zaidi to tout the Biden administration’s investment in clean energy.

Former Republican Arizona Mayor John Giles told Fox & Friends Thursday said that Harris was pleased to promote his new energy plan, but that she should also take the time to educate the public about the influx of illegal drugs and migrants to the southern border.
“It is a lost opportunity to visit the border and bring attention to the security issues we’re facing,” Giles said. “There is absolutely security issues at the border we would love for the vice president to bring more attention to and to bring more resources to.”
The vice president’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
