The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on High Alert as Threats Surface Against Agents
The CBP has issued an internal alert warning its agents about intercepted messages that aim to obtain their home addresses with the intention of “torturing” them and their families. The Washington Examiner reports that the sender of these messages is offering to pay “top dollar” for information and even promises to post videos of the torture.
“We will pay for any addresses of Border Patrol agents!! $200 your way if you get me a border patrol agent’s address. $1K if you get me their momma’s address,” reads one of the messages obtained by the Washington Examiner. “We offer $$$ for information on BP agents. The CBP El Paso Sector Intelligence and Operations Center has issued an “Officer Safety Alert” to agents, urging them to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity. They are also advised to exercise caution when sharing personal information on social media platforms.
The FBI is currently investigating the alleged threat, according to the alert.
“Las Cruces FBI agents encountered a message in which a subject is offering money to anyone who can provide addresses of BPAs,” states the alert. “The sender offered a higher compensation amount for the address of any agents’ mother and/or ’top dollar’ for good information on agents. The sender stated he would post videos of them torturing any BPA they receive information about.”
‘Special Interest Aliens’
According to Fox News, the CBP has arrested thousands of “special interest aliens” between October 1, 2021, and October 4, 2023. These individuals come from countries with conditions that promote or protect terrorism, posing a potential national security threat.
The data reveals that over the two-year period, the CBP apprehended more than 72,823 special interest aliens, with the majority originating from Middle Eastern countries. Turkey had the highest number with 30,830, followed by Mauritania with 15,59, and Uzbekistan with 13,624.
Other countries with significant numbers include Afghanistan (6,386), Egypt (3,153), and Pakistan (1,613). Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen also had encounters, albeit in smaller numbers.
It’s important to note that the data does not include the number of illegal immigrants who were either removed or released into the U.S., nor does it account for those who entered undetected by law enforcement.
The CBP has confirmed the authenticity of the leaked internal data but has not provided further details.
Increased Security and Public Safety Alert
In response to recent terrorist attacks against Israel, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has issued a statewide public safety notice. While no specific threats have been reported, the DPS is concerned that the ongoing conflict could incite violence from extremists and terrorist cells operating within the U.S.
“At this time, DPS is not aware of any specific or credible threats to Texas,” stated the DPS in a news release. “However, the department does have concerns that the current conflict could inspire homegrown violent extremists and foreign terrorist organizations in the United States to target the Jewish community and institutions associated with Israel outside of the Middle East.”
Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity through the iWatch Texas app, which guarantees confidentiality. The Texas government has allocated an additional $4 million to enhance the security of Jewish and ”Israel-related” organizations in the state.
Governor Greg Abbott expressed his support for Israel and condemned the acts of violence, emphasizing the state’s commitment to combating terrorism and anti-Semitism.
What steps can law enforcement agencies and intelligence organizations take to identify and apprehend individuals involved in planning or carrying out threats against CBP agents?
. Other countries of origin include Yemen, Iran, Syria, and Afghanistan.
The presence of these “special interest aliens” at the southern border raises concerns about potential security risks. The CBP plays a crucial role in securing the border and preventing the entry of individuals who may pose a threat to national security. With intercepted messages threatening its agents, the CBP is on high alert and taking necessary precautions to ensure the safety of its personnel and their families.
It is imperative that law enforcement agencies and intelligence organizations intensify their efforts to identify and apprehend individuals involved in planning or carrying out threats against CBP agents. The safety and well-being of these agents, who dedicate their lives to protecting the nation’s borders, must be a top priority.
In addition to the immediate response to these threats, it is important to address the root causes behind the presence of “special interest aliens” at the southern border. This includes addressing the political and socio-economic conditions in their home countries that drive them to seek asylum or attempt illegal entry into the United States. By addressing the underlying factors, the U.S. can work towards long-term solutions and strengthen border security.
Furthermore, the CBP should continue to enhance its intelligence gathering and sharing capabilities to effectively identify and intercept individuals who may pose a threat to national security. Collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, both domestic and international, is crucial in this regard. Sharing information and intelligence can help prevent potential security breaches and ensure the safety of CBP agents and the general public.
Public awareness and support are also vital in protecting the agents of the CBP. The intercepted messages and threats highlight the risks and dangers that these agents face in their line of duty. The public should be encouraged to report any suspicious activity or information related to these threats, enabling law enforcement agencies to take prompt action and prevent any harm.
Ultimately, the safety and security of CBP agents must be a top priority for the U.S. government. Adequate measures should be implemented to protect these personnel and their families from potential harm. Additionally, efforts to address the underlying causes of illegal migration and strengthen border security must be intensified to ensure the integrity of the nation’s borders.
