Boston FBI trainees broke into wrong apartment and handcuffed and interrogated man for nearly an hour

FBI trainees in Boston mistakenly entered the wrong apartment during a mock training session and interrogated a resident for over 45 minutes before realizing the blunder. The designated apartment had an actor posing as a person with intelligence, and the trainees were supposed to extract information from him.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the trainees accidentally entered an apartment occupied by an airline pilot in his 30s, prompting them to handcuff him, put him in the shower, and grill him for information. The FBI later apologized to the victim and set him free.

The FBI released a statement to WBZ, saying, “Thankfully nobody was injured. Safety is always a priority of the FBI, and our law enforcement partners, and we take these incidents very seriously. The Boston Division is reviewing the incident with DOD for further action as deemed appropriate.”

The man subjected to the interrogation declined to comment and wanted to speak to his employer first. Meanwhile, his employer, Delta Air Lines, said it was looking into the matter.

The wrongfully detained man refused medical attention at the scene.
