‘Bostonians Of The Year’: Martha’s Vineyard Residents Win Prize For Dealing With Illegal Aliens For 48 Hours
Remember when Martha’s Vineyard residents had to deal with illegal aliens for two days in September courtesy of one Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL)?
This was after Labor Day and “the season” was starting to slow down. Suddenly, 49 men, women, and children appeared on the island. None of these liberals had ever seen anything like it — perhaps because they are on a literal island secluded from the Democrat policies causing the flood of illegal aliens.
Nonetheless, those hearty New Englanders dealt with the newcomers for a paltry 48 hours the best that they could.
For that Herculean task, The Boston Globe — the region’s largest Left-wing rag — has awarded the citizens of Martha’s Vineyard the title of “Bostonians of the Year.”
It should be noted that past recipients include Monica Cannon-Grant — a BLM-aligned activist who was arrested last May along with her husband Clark Grant. The two were federally charged and arrested on 18 counts of fraud and conspiracy in relation to her non-profit, Violence in Boston (VIB).
Over the summer, VIB shut its doors and Cannon-Grant requested unemployment assistance from the state.
Yet Cannon-Grant’s troubles of her own making are nothing compared to the plight that the denizens of the lily-white vacation spot of climate car John Kerry and the Obamas had to go through (a fiasco also of their own making).
Here’s how The Globe article starts off, which should let readers from Stamford, Connecticut, to Saco, Maine, know that they are in for a real treat:
LISA BELCASTRO HAD JUST finished teaching a karate class when she checked her phone and saw an urgent text. It was from a friend at Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, the island’s safety-net nonprofit. “We have about 50 Venezuelans here,” her friend said. “We don’t know why they’re here or how they got here, but we have to take care of them.”
You might recognize the name Belcastro because she is the same broad who exasperatingly told the press that sooner or later, those pesky South American visitors would have to say, “¡Vamos! ¡Adios!”
“At some point in time, they have to move from here to somewhere else, right?” Belcastro said at the time. “We don’t have the services to take care of 50 immigrants. And we certainly don’t have housing — we’re in a housing crisis as we are on this island.”
Wow! This Martha’s Vineyard Democrat doesn’t seem very welcoming or progressive.
“We don’t have housing for 50 immigrants.”
Uh, don’t the Obamas have a 10 bedroom mansion there? That will fit half of them.

And they did leave soon after. The illegal immigrants were on a bus flanked by the national guard the next day. Where those people are now, nobody knows.
One thing is for sure, they aren’t hanging around Martha’s Vineyard — and thank God for that, Belcastro must be thinking.
Despite the summer population hovering around 200,000 — and the offseason having only 20,000 — the townsfolk said they could not possibly find housing or anything for these folks. The idea of using their own money and housing for an extended period of time — not the taxpayers’ moolah — never occurred to them.
Regardless, The Globe thought their efforts deserved recognition.
The main resting place for these Hispanic sojourners was the basement of a small chapel. Again, the island is littered with gigantic mansions and numerous bed & breakfasts, but for some reason, the best they could do was the bowels of a tiny church. It was one of the wildest things The Vineyard had ever seen.
And boy did people flock once they got wind some exotic visitors had arrived. Everybody just had to see the latest attraction. It was even more exciting than seeing former President Barack Obama go out for a walk on the beach.
That’s not a joke. That’s nearly a direct quote from the paper.
“As Belcastro, Baker, and other volunteers dusted off cots and inflated air mattresses in St. Andrew’s basement, reports of the surprise visitors began to ripple across the island,” the paper read. “That attracted residents to the church with the same urgency that an Obama sighting mobilizes tourists in the summer.” (emphasis added)
Besides highlighting one guy who spoke Spanish and another volunteer who didn’t eat a crumb all day, the paper did admit that America’s immigration system is not working:
THERE’S AT LEAST one point of agreement for opponents in the nation’s immigration debate: Our system is broken, and opportunists are exploiting the crisis. Who the opportunists are is up for grabs. Some fault all the migrants pouring over our porous Southern border; others fault hard-right lawmakers for being indifferent to human suffering, focusing instead on scoring political points.
You will note that the words “Joe Biden” or “Democrats” are not factored into The Globe’s analysis as to who is to blame for the crisis that could
