Bret Baier challenges Trump on offensive comments about his own hires.

Former President Donald Trump Defends His Hiring Choices

In a recent interview, Donald Trump addressed criticisms about his hiring decisions during his time in office. Pushing back on claims that he surrounded himself with incompetent individuals, Trump emphasized that for every one bad example, there were ten good examples.

During the interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier, Trump was reminded of his promise in 2016 to only surround himself with the best and most serious people. Trump confidently responded, “Well, I did do that. That’s tremendous. Look, we had the best economy we’ve ever had, the world has ever seen.”

Baier then listed several individuals who have publicly distanced themselves from Trump, including Vice President Mike Pence, Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and National Security Adviser John Bolton. Baier also mentioned Attorney General Bill Barr’s criticism of Trump, as well as negative remarks made by former Defense Secretaries James Mattis and Mark Esper.

Despite the criticisms, Trump stood by his hiring choices. He stated, “I hired ten to one that were fantastic. We had a great economy. We had phenomenal people in charge of the economy. We had phenomenal people in the military.”

Baier acknowledged that many people praised Trump for his policies, to which Trump responded, “That’s true. Well, I mean, you just went through a list. But don’t forget, for every one you say, I had ten that love us.”
