Kemp: Georgia Trump election probe distracts from Biden’s shortcomings.
Gov. Brian Kemp Slams Georgia Investigation as a “Distraction” from Biden’s Record
Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) has criticized the ongoing investigation into former President Donald Trump’s alleged tampering of the 2020 presidential election results, calling it a mere “distraction” from the Biden administration’s record. In a recent interview on Fox News, Kemp emphasized the need to focus on pressing issues such as the border crisis and the disastrous pullout from Afghanistan.

Kemp further highlighted the impact of Biden’s policies on the economy, stating that the middle class is suffering from skyrocketing inflation, grocery prices, and energy costs. He questioned the effectiveness of Biden’s approach to “building the economy from the middle out and the bottom up,” suggesting that it is only draining people’s wallets.
Last year, Kemp testified before a grand jury convened by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. While this grand jury did not have the power to issue indictments, their nine-page report released in February concluded that there was no widespread fraud in the Georgia 2020 presidential election that could have overturned the results.
Regarding Willis’s investigation into Trump, Kemp expressed uncertainty about the potential indictments and the timeline set by the district attorney. He acknowledged the possibility of multiple individuals facing charges but admitted to lacking insight into the inner workings of the investigation.
Willis initiated the investigation in February 2021, specifically examining allegations against Trump and his Republican allies for their attempts to overturn the 2020 election. The focus of the investigation centers around Trump’s hourlong phone conversation with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, during which he urged Raffensperger to ”find 11,780 votes.”
Recently, a new set of grand jurors were sworn in for the investigation, potentially playing a crucial role in determining whether indictments will be issued, with a possible announcement expected in August.
Kemp has intensified his criticism of Biden’s economic policies, highlighting the administration’s spending record and the state of the national economy. He pointed out the significant increase in housing costs due to rising interest rates, emphasizing the need to address these issues rather than getting caught up in what he referred to as “Bidenomics.”
