Brittney Griner: It’s A ‘Crime’ To Stop Biological Males From Competing Against Women
WNBA Star Brittney Griner Speaks Out Against Legislation Preventing Transgender Athletes from Competing
Brittney Griner, the WNBA star who made headlines last year after being freed from a Russian prison in a prisoner swap, has spoken out against legislation being pushed across the U.S. that aims to protect biological females from having to compete against biological males.
During a press conference, Bill Rhoden from ESPN asked Griner about the matter, and she responded passionately. “Everyone deserves the right to play, everyone deserves the right to come here, sit in these seats and feel safe and not feel like there’s a threat or they can’t be who they are,” she said. “So, I think it’s a crime, honestly, to separate someone for any reason.”
Griner Vows to Speak Up Against Discriminatory Legislation
Griner went on to say that advocating for transgender athletes will be high on her list of priorities. “I definitely will be speaking up against those, that legislation, and those laws that are trying to be passed for sure,” she said.
