A GoFundMe campaign in 2022 shed light on Peluso’s absence from the theater scene. Organizers explained that he suffered from schizoaffective disorder, which caused debilitating paranoia, preventing him from performing in recent years.
The campaign, which raised over $25,000, allowed Peluso to seek treatment in the United States. In an update, Peluso expressed his gratitude to the donors and shared that he had completed inpatient treatment, enabling him to resume work and auditions.
Peluso’s journey serves as a reminder of the silent struggles faced by many individuals with mental illness. In his own words, he hoped that his story would raise awareness and encourage kindness towards one another.
