Buccaneers Teammates Say Tom Brady Has Made Decision on Next Season
If Tom Brady is going to return for a 24th year in the NFL, some of his Buccaneers teammates reportedly seem to think it won’t be with Tampa Bay.
From their final interactions with Brady, multiple players realized that Brady has no plans to play another year with the Buccaneers. NFL Network reported on Saturday.
“I’d be surprised if he’s back,” One Buccaneer informed the outlet.
“He sounded like a person saying goodbye for good,” Another said.
Brady, 45, said that he would make a decision about his future after the Buccaneers were beaten by the Cowboys in Monday’s NFC wild card round. “one day at a time.” In what sounded almost like a farewell, he ended his postgame press conference with a thank you to reporters.
“Hopefully, you know, I love this organization,” Brady said. “It’s a great place to be. I love everyone for welcoming me, all you regulars. And just very grateful for the respect, and I hope I gave the same thing back to you guys. So thank you very much.”
Brady is expected to be free this offseason, which will mark the second time in Brady’s career. His hometown 49ers, Titans, and Raiders are all possible suitors for the Hall of Fame quarterback at 46 years old.
The Buccaneers fired Byron Leftwich, the offensive coordinator, earlier this week. Brady will leave, but they will still have a $35.1million cap hit.
Should Brady choose to retire — and stay retired, unlike last offseason — he has a 10-year, $375 million offer awaiting him to do game commentary for Fox Sports, The Post’s Andrew Marchand has reported.
