After a disappointing year in sales for the brand, the popular stand-up comedian Shane Gillis has exciting news to share. He will now be collaborating with Bud Light, as announced on Instagram.
“Welcome to the team @shanemgillis, excited to be a part of your 2024 tour,” the beer brand posted.
“Excited to announce partnership with Bud Light #budlightpartner,” Gillis posted to his Instagram account.
Last year, Bud Light faced a decline in sales after partnering with transgender activist and influencer Dylan Mulvaney. The collaboration led to a boycott that lasted for months, causing a significant drop in sales and losing its position as the best-selling beer in America.
In addition to the Mulvaney collaboration, Alissa Heinerscheid, the former marketing vice president of Bud Light, made controversial remarks about the brand’s customers in a video interview. She emphasized the importance of inclusivity and shifting the brand’s tone to appeal to both men and women.
“Representation is sort of at the heart of evolution, you have got to see people who reflect you in the work,” she continued. “We had this hangover, I mean Bud Light had been kind of a brand of fratty, kind of out of touch humor, and it was really important that we had another approach.”
Reports suggest that Heinerscheid has been let go from her position since then.
On the other hand, Gillis has faced his own share of controversy. He was previously recruited by Saturday Night Live but was fired shortly after due to the resurfacing of old jokes containing racist language. Despite this, Gillis has a strong following, particularly among conservative audiences, and has even been seen interacting with former President Donald Trump.
Gillis is also a favorite on The Joe Rogan Podcast and the Kill Tony Podcast. Kill Tony is known for its “pro-free speech” stance and is recorded in front of a live audience in Austin, Texas.

Shane Gillis Collaborates with Bud Light: A New Partnership to Boost Sales

He was previously recruited by Saturday Night Live but was fired shortly after due to the resurfacing of old jokes containing racist language. Despite this, Gillis has a strong following, particularly among conservative audiences, and has even been seen interacting with former President Donald Trump.
“There’s never been a brand that has been hit like this before.” Joe Rogan, Shane Gillis, Mark Normand, and Ari Shaffir debated the long-term effects of the Bud Light boycott.
Gillis is also a favorite on The Joe Rogan Podcast and the Kill Tony Podcast. Kill Tony is known for its “pro-free speech” atmosphere, and Gillis’ collaboration with Bud Light could be seen as a return to edgier humor that resonates with his fanbase.
The partnership between Shane Gillis and Bud Light is an interesting move for both parties. Bud Light is hoping to regain its position as the top-selling beer in America following the previous year’s decline in sales. Collaborating with Gillis, known for his controversial humor and loyal following among conservative audiences, might just be the solution the brand has been looking for.
However, it remains to be seen how this collaboration will be received by the public. Bud Light’s previous partnership with Dylan Mulvaney resulted in significant backlash and a boycott. Gillis, too, has faced backlash for his previous remarks. It will be interesting to see if this collaboration will be successful in revitalizing both Gillis’ and Bud Light’s reputations.
Overall, the partnership between Shane Gillis and Bud Light has the potential to generate buzz and increase sales for both parties. It will be important for Bud Light to navigate the fine line between appealing to a wider audience and maintaining its loyal customer base. And for Gillis, it will be crucial to strike a balance between his edgy humor and avoiding controversy that could harm his career. Only time will tell if this collaboration will prove to be a winning formula.
